Thomas
J. Standish, Shareholder
Thomas J. Standish devotes his
practice exclusively to family law litigation with
emphasis on significant contested matters in custody
and property division. Mr. Standish graduated from
the University of Toronto in 1974. He obtained
his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, York
University, Toronto, Canada in 1977.
Mr. Standish has served as a member of the State
Bar of Nevada Fee Dispute Committee (1986-1990),
the Board of the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association
(1987-1991) (President (1995-1996)), Co-chairman
of the NTLA Domestic Law Committee (1990-2001), Citizens
for Justice Board Member (1993-Present), and the
Family Law Section of the State Bar of Nevada (Member:
1994-Present).
He has authored the articles, “Understanding
Western States vs. Michoff”, NTLA Advocate,
March 1993; and “The Tracing Burden in Martial
Dissolution Cases After Schmanski”, NTLA Advocate,
November 2000.
He has also served as a lecturer and panelist on
numerous occasions for the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association,
the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Nevada,
the Bench Bar Committee of the Eighth Judicial District
Court of the State of Nevada, the Family Court Judges
Seminar, the Nevada Business Institute, and the People’s
Law School.
